As a parent of three children in Cumberland County public schools, I am tired of hearing promises from legislators who have never set foot in our classrooms. Our teachers are overworked and underpaid. Our buildings need repair. Our students deserve better resources. Every year, we hear about new education initiatives from Raleigh, but the funding never seems to reach the schools that need it most. It is time for our elected officials to visit our schools, talk to our teachers, and see firsthand what their budget decisions mean for real families.
